Ellibs
The PIKI libraries’ joint Ellibs collection contains thousands of e-books and e-audiobooks in Finnish. Ellibs can be accessed either through a browser or a mobile application. You need a library card and PIN to log in to the service. Books borrowed are returned automatically at the end of the loan period.
Overdrive
Overdrive offers e-books and e-audiobooks in English. To borrow, you need a PIKI library card and PIN. Books borrowed are returned automatically at the end of the loan period. The service is best accessed by downloading the Libby application to your phone.
Naxos Spoken Word Library
This service offers fiction and non-fiction classics as audiobooks in several different languages. You need a library card to log in.
Celia
Celia is a nationwide library for people with print disabilities, featuring tens of thousands of e-audiobooks. If you have difficulty reading printed text due to a disability, an illness or other similar reason, you may be eligible to become a Celia customer. Individual customers are registered through the library. Community customers can contact Celia directly. For more information, please visit the Celia website.
Films and TV series
Kirjastokino
Kirjastokino features films, television series and documentaries. The service checks the user’s age using the library system, and the user cannot watch films that they are not old enough for. You need a library card and PIN to log in.
Music
Rockway
Finnish-language online service with video lessons on playing music and singing. The service includes over 30 courses of different levels from beginner to advanced. The selection includes video lessons on the following topics: guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, songwriting, singing and ukulele. The service features a metronome and a tuner, as well as the opportunity to record your training. The courses are taught by top Finnish professionals. Newspapers and magazines
ePress ja eMagz
Finnish local and regional newspapers online. Includes, amongst others, Helsingin Sanomat and Alma Media’s newspapers (Aamulehti, Pohjolan Sanomat, etc.) The service also includes a tab for the magazine service eMagz, which contains about 100 Finnish magazines and tabloids.
You can use the service on the library’s computers or your own device by logging in to the library’s network.
PressReader
Mainly contains foreign magazines and newspapers. The selection is comprehensive: the English-language service includes more than 7,800 magazines in 79 different languages.The digital editions can be read either directly in the browser or with a separate mobile application.
