Self-service use of libraries
Self-service is possible in the Main Library’s reading room and at Toivio Library. Check the self-service hours on the opening hours of the library. During self-service hours, there are no staff at the library. The premises are monitored with recording surveillance cameras.
To use the facilities, you need a PIKI library card and PIN. All customers of PIKI libraries can make use of the self-service hours. There is a unit at the door that reads your library card and then asks for your password. If necessary, use can be prevented due to disorderly conduct or misuse, for example.
At the Main Library, only the reading room is available for self-service use, not the other premises. In the reading room, you can read newspapers and magazines, return and renew your loans and borrow from a small book collection. You can also use the premises for working and studying, for example.
Always use your own card to access the premises. Do not let other customers in as you open the door. The customer is responsible for the behaviour of other people they bring with them.
